Covid-19 Update
Our 2021-22 season is quickly approaching and SLSSC is currently planning a full and close to normal startup this year. Although we have come a long way with are battle with Covid-19, there are still some challenges as safeguards we are working through to ensure a safe and smooth start to our season.
The SLSSC is working diligently to ensure a safe environment for all our members. We will be following the guidelines established by our Provincial Health Authority, the City of Saskatoon, and recommendations from Saskatchewan Speed Skating Association (SASSA). For the 2021-22 Season, we will be following the guidelines listed below, although are aware that things may change through the course of the season.

Procedures for Club Practices 2021 – 2022
Effective September 1, 2021
Procedures will be revisited throughout the season and are subject to change.
Many of the skaters at the SLSSC are under the age of 12 and are not yet approved for the Covid-19 vaccine. These children are at risk for contracting and spreading Covid-19. The SLSSC strives to protect our youngest participants. Currently, the only skating group that is entirely approved for a Covid-19 vaccine is Group 4.
Masking
- All skaters, coaches and spectators are required to wear a mask in the lobby, dressing rooms, bathrooms, spectator area and on ice.
Arrival & Departure
- Skaters, coaches, and spectators are no longer required to complete a Health Check prior to arrival. No one is to enter the arena if they are feeling unwell and/or exhibiting any Covid-19 symptoms or have been a close contact with a known Covid-19.
- Skaters and coaches will enter ice surface using the West gate and exit the ice using the East gate.
On-Ice Practices
- All skaters must be able to fall and get back up on the ice independently without any physical assistance from coaches.
- Short Learn to Skate (SLTS) and Group 1 skaters arrive with their required equipment on (helmet, shin pads, ect.) SLTS & Group 1 skaters put their skates on in the stands. Dressing room use is not permitted. Bathrooms are located at the main West entrance.
- Groups 2, 3 and 4 skaters begin their practices with dry land. Skaters use designated change rooms and spectator area to put on skates. Skaters are expected to leave the arena in a timely fashion after practice. Change rooms will only used by one group of skaters.
- Physical distancing is always encouraged.
Spectators
- One spectator per family is permitted to accompany skater(s).
